Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV)

Precipitable water vapor (PWV) is the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. Since water vapor shows strong absorption in the infrared wavelengths, PWV is an important parameter for the observing condition for TAO/MIMIZUKU. At the summit of Co. Chajnantor (TAO observation site), PWV is expected to be 0.3-1.5 mm. The table below summarizes investigations of the PWV condition at the summit of Co. Chajnantor.
