Richard Blank (Teledyne Technologies, Inc.) "Focal plane arrays and focal plane electronics for large scientific telescopes – new developments at Teledyne" This seminar is intended to provide updates on the latest focal plane array and focal plane electronics developments at Teledyne Imaging Sensors for ground based, airborne, and space based scientific applications. The exceptionally low dark current of the HxRG (x = 1, 2, and 4) arrays allows for operation at higher temperatures which facilitates simplified instrument designs and therefore lower instrument cost. Performance data at higher operating temperatures are presented and are discussed as a function of detector bias and pixel readout rate. Performance data of 1.75 micron and 5.3 micron H2RG focal plane arrays will be presented and some of the inherent performance differences compared to 2.5 micron cutoff H2RG arrays will be explained. Status of the 4K x 4K, 15 micron infrared pixel array, the H4RG-15 will be presented and the new CHROMA focal plane array for earth observation will be introduced. SIDECAR ASIC focal plane electronics are now used in many ground bases instruments and several space missions. New ASIC modules which are currently being developed into products at Teledyne will be presented. Finally, a full-up infrared camera system with foreoptics based on the HxRG array and SIDECAR ASIC electronics will be introduced.
羽澄 昌史 氏 (KEK) 「宇宙マイクロ波背景放射偏光観測によるインフレーション宇宙の検証」 素粒子物理学における宇宙観測の重要性が近年ますます高まっている。 この時代認識と研究コミュニティの期待を背景に、高エネルギー加速器 研究機構（KEK）では、加速器実験で培った技術と経験（と根性）を生かした 実験的宇宙論研究グループを2008年に立ち上げ、宇宙マイクロ波背景放射 （Cosmic Microwave Background, CMB）偏光観測プロジェクトを推進している。 主な科学目標はインフレーション宇宙の検証である。インフレーション仮説 によれば、インフレーション宇宙で生成された原始重力波がCMB偏光マップに 「Bモード」という一種の渦パターンを刻印している。この検証なくして インフレーションの証明は完結しない。CMB偏光Bモードの検出に成功すれば、 インフレーションポテンシャルエネルギーに関する定量的知見が得られ、 さらにインフレーションの背後にある量子重力理論の実験的検証という 新しい分野が拓かれると期待されている。 本講演では、KEK CMBグループが手掛けているチリ・アタカマの地上望遠鏡 QUIETおよびPOLARBEAR、そして人工衛星計画LiteBIRDという3つのプロジェクト の現状と今後の予定について紹介する。
