"The Circum-galactic Medium at Galaxy Formation Epoch"
I'll review the current understanding of the circum-galactic
medium (CGM) at the peak epoch of galaxy formation (z=2-3).
The CGM is thought to play an important role to determine the
activities/properties of galaxies via gas flows into and out
of galaxies. Deep Lya imaging can trace the two dimensional
structures of the CGM as spatially extended Lya emitting nebula.
I'll present recent results of our Lya survey of the CGM at z=3.
We found that high-z galaxies in over-dense regions have more
extended Lya nebulae compared to the field galaxies at the same
redshift, suggesting that galaxies in over-dense regions have
more gas around them at galaxy formation epoch. I'll also
briefly introduce our new Herschel proto-cluster survey program
to test if such gas rich environment enhance the star-formation
or AGN activities of galaxies in over-dense regions at z=2-3.
