東京大学・天文学教育研究センターでは2003年4月から談話会を開いています。
2021年度より当面のあいだ, 天文学教室と天文学教育研究センター合同での開催となっております。&br;
第一線で活躍されている研究者の方々を講師にお招きし、最先端の研究成果をお話しいただきます。
講師の方には、大学院生の参加者のことも考慮し、レビュー的な側面も含めた上で、ご自身の研究紹介をお願いしています。&br;
なお、当談話会は天文学研究者・学生を対象に大学・大学院での
専門的な研究と教育を目的として開催されています。
一般の方は[[公開講座・講演会>https://www.u-tokyo.ac.jp/ja/society/visit-lectures/d04_01.html]]などにご参加いただければ幸いです。

Red clump (RC) stars are low mass stars in the core-helium burning phase with relatively high metallicity. They are widely used as a standard candle because the dispersion of luminosity and color of RC stars is small, and the number of RC stars is numerous. To make RC stars as an even better standard candle, it is important to know the accurate absolute magnitude and color of them. We are trying to obtain the accurate absolute magnitude and color of RC stars by two approaches. One is to determine the absolute magnitude and color of RC stars in the solar neighborhood, where the effect of interstellar extinction is small. We used the thirty millimeter telescope at Subaru Telescope Okayama Branch Office to observe bright RC stars. The other is an investigation of age and metallicity dependence of absolute magnitude and color using star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds. Observations were conducted with IRSF/SIRIUS, and archive data from VMC survey were used. In this talk, I will present the result of these observations and comparison with theoretical models.
