These outbursts, marked by excess high-energy radiation, reshape the thermal, chemical, and physical structure of the circumstellar environment. By perturbing the steadily accreting star-disk system, they also provide us an unprecedented window into the dynamics of the innermost regions of the accretion disc. In this talk, I will present some new insights into the mechanisms that trigger and regulate these outbursts, based on our decade-long observational campaign of eruptive objects—Monitoring FU Orionis and EX Orionis Sources (MFES). Our findings also uncovered how outbursts drive a migration of the accretion flow, confirming predictions from 3D MHD simulations of magnetospheric accretion.
